Cactus Automation joins up with Radius Control Systems

On 6 July 2010, two of Sweden’s most advanced automation companies, Cactus Automation and Radius Control Systems (UniView) became a single company – Cactus UniView. The merger makes the company one of the biggest in Sweden in the water and sanitation sector.

Cactus UniView provides all the services required to deliver turnkey automation systems. With the merger, the company can offer even better geographical coverage with local offices in Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Jönköping and Stockholm as well as Haslev in Denmark.

Two business areas: Process and Railway

The new shared organisation has two business areas: Process and Railway. The Process business area, which covers water and sanitation, district heating, manufacturing, nuclear power and electricity supplies is headed by Lennart Palm. Jan Andreasson is responsible for the Railway business area, which is used by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL), Hovedstadens Lokalbaner and the Swedish Transport Administration (formerly the Swedish National Rail Administration).

Proprietary operational computer systems

Cactus Automation and Radius Control Systems have developed operational computer systems which have been installed for 30 years in socially critical businesses where only the highest level of reliability is good enough.

“It requires industry knowledge, size and muscle to be able to develop the next generation of operational computer systems. With the merger we now have an excellent basis on which to drive continued development in this area,” says Fredrik Bergström, CEO of Cactus UniView.

The merger provides stability, security and a long-term foundation for all customers of the combined company.

“In water and sanitation alone, we have around 60 local authorities as customers. Over three million Swedes receive their water from a treatment plant controlled by a system from us. In energy too, we are a big player with around 30 energy customers,” says Lennart Palm, Deputy CEO.
