Follow-up and analysis

Follow-up and analysis

All operating information and operators’ commands are collected and stored. The stored information can later be used by traffic managers, maintenance staff and other stakeholders to analyse events or extract statistics from the system.

The information gathered can also be transferred and exchanged with other existing systems, to calculate key indicators and maintenance needs, for example.

Incidents and alarms – everything is logged

All events and alarms are logged in the system. In Cactus TMS there are alarms defined to monitor both system functions and traffic. All alarms are clearly indicated in system and track plan images and can be easily identified in the log files. The alarms are classified by severity and have to be acknowledged by either the traffic manager or maintenance staff.

Archiving is continuous, e.g. each calendar day, and data can be saved for as long as required.

The logging also encompasses statistical functions for counting the number of incidents over a defined period within selected parts of the system, for example.

Event playback for analysis

Event replay enables logged data to be played back against ‘historical’ images of the track layout so the operator can relive the incident. Incident by incident can be played back while you can check the course of events in both the images and the log.

This is an indispensable tool in incident analysis and trouble-shooting. The replay and analysis can take place at the operator’s regular workstation, or by way of a remote access station. In this way, Cactus is always able to assist the customer with fault analyses and investigations, for example. In ambiguous cases, where several different suppliers may be involved, the replay feature in combination with the different system logs can always be applied to obtain clear-cut results.

Punctuality reports

All the parties involved – infrastructure owners, traffic managers and passengers – naturally want the best possible punctuality. In Cactus TMS, you can create your own reports to follow up e.g. how the traffic has run or how a given infrastructure function has been executed. Examples of reports:

  • Planned and actual traffic
  • Delays in relation to the timetable.
  • Alarm statistics.

You can also export relevant data to an external system for analysis.
